2009 Calendar of Events at Hensler's

Sunday, Nov. 15th: Christmas Fest Open House

You’re invited to Hensler’s 2009 Christmas Fest Open House! Our very own Mrs. Claus will be hosting this event where you’ll be able to get a first look at the unique items on sale in the Christmas barn. We’re featuring products produced by local crafters and farmers as well as our expansive inventory of Fontanini Nativity.

This is also a great time to order greenery items:

  • Mini-crosses and micro-cross (new this year!)
  • Single and double snowflakes (new this year!)
  • Custom decorated wreaths
  • Grave pillows

Oct. 17th & 18th/Sat. & Sun.: I-Scream and Wheel Horse Weekend

We’ll be serving up a spooky treat this weekend: our own homemade pumpkin ice cream. Made with pumpkin and real vanilla, it’s a silky smooth autumn treat you won’t want to miss.

We will also exhibit a collection of restored Wheel Horse lawn and garden tractors. These vintage tractors were very popular in the 1950’s and 60’s, and the Wheel Horse company’s headquarters was based in South Bend, IN.

All of our other fall activities are up and running. We still have a great selection of pumpkins and fall decor. Join us this weekend for a little I-Scream and enjoy “Fall- All Over the Place” here at Hensler’s!

Sunday, Sep. 27th: Studebaker Car Show

Also on the day of the Giant Pumpkin Weigh-off you can enjoy our historic car show featuring automobiles from the Michiana Chapter of the Studebaker Driver’s Club.

While you’re here, stop by the weighing area to watch the Indiana Pumpkin Grower’s battle it out to see who has the largest pumpkin. Last year’s winning gourd topped the scale at 1,346 lbs!

All of our other activities will be up and running. You can enjoy horse-drawn wagon rides to the pumpkin patch to pick your own pumpkins. The Harvest barn will be open with hand-crafted fall decor, gourds and mums.

Sunday, Sep. 27th: Giant Pumpkin Weigh-off

Members from the Indiana Pumpkin Growers Association are coming to Hensler’s to weigh their giant gourds. Last year’s weigh-off proved they’re all very talented in growing some hefty pumpkins, but only one can be declared the winner.

Tipping the scale and taking the grand prize at last year’s contest was Terry Marchand with a pumpkin weighing in at an unbelievable 1,346 lbs.

All of our other activities will be up and running. You can take horse-drawn tram rides to the pumpkin patch to pick your own pumpkins. And you’ll also enjoy the fall decor we have on sale like hand-crafted items, mums and gourds.
