2007 Open House a Success!

November 4th marked the official start to the holiday season for Hensler Nursery during our annual Christmas Fest Open House. Attendance was the highest we’ve seen on opening day. Our guests were able to preview new Fontanini collectibles and other great gift items in our Christmas Barn. We also provided a preview of our wreaths, kissing balls and other greenery to give our visitors ideas for decorating their homes.

Remember that Santa, the horse pulled wagon rides, and all the festivities of Christmas Fest officially open the day after Thanksgiving on November 23.

Thank you for coming to Open House! We’ll see you during the holidays when you pick out your tree and pick up the greenery that you ordered! Don’t forget that you can pre-order any of our greenery items from now through Christmas. We’ll have it ready for when you arrive.

Shake and Bail!

Shake & bail at the tree lot

After you’ve selected your Christmas Tree, stop by the Shake and Bail area in front of the Christmas Barn. Hensler Nursery staff will carefully wrap your tree in twine for its journey home.

Bus Tour Kick Starts Christmas Fest

Hensler Nursery hosted a Cardinal bus tour of 58 local residents who were interested in receiving a private tour of the nursery on November 1st. John Hensler and John Scheetz provided the group with a first look at the 24-foot Douglas Fir tree headed to the State House Capitol building in December. Visitors were greeted by Mrs. Claus and taken on a tram tour which included stops at seedling and transplant growing areas, and a visit to the adjoining tree field to observe Christmas trees being shaken and bailed for wholesale shipment.

Visitors were also able to view the newly-decorated Christmas Barn, wreath decorating building, and visit with resident reindeer Angel and Rudy.

WKVI Radio in Knox, Indiana sponsored the tour.

“Hensler’s sends another beauty”

Three gallons of spray-on fire retardant. Other than that, it’s all nature’s work. And down she went, a 25-foot, 22-year old Douglas fir that will be displayed at the Indiana Statehouse rotunda.

“We feel very fortunate that we are allowed to come into the capitol bringing our fresh product. There are not a lot of associations that get to do that,” Hensler said.
