Hensler Nursery Provides Statehouse Christmas Tree

“On Friday, December 9th at 1 p.m. CST Hensler Nursery in Hamlet will be cutting the 25 foot Concolor Fir for the Indiana Statehouse Rotunda. The Rotunda tree will be cut with the assistance of Kankakee Valley REMC crew members from Wanatah.
The Rotunda tree will be loaded and residing at Hensler Nursery over the weekend. Presentation at the Indiana Statehouse will be Monday, December 12th.
Additionally, besides the Rotunda Concolor Fir, Hensler Nursery will be providing the Lt. Governor’s office with an 8 foot Fraser Fir. Both of these Starke County grown trees will grace the Statehouse during December bringing fresh, fragrant Northern Indiana grown Christmas trees to Indiana’s Capitol.”

“A Christmastime atmosphere will fill the air at the Statehouse Rotunda as a magnificent Concolor Fir is moved into the building, bringing with it the citrusy aroma of the holidays.
Area Christmas tree farm, Hensler Nursery, won Grand Champion at the Indiana State Fair Christmas tree competition on Thursday, August 5.  Hensler’s entered two trees:  an 8’ White Pine and a 7’ Fraser Fir.  The white Pine received a blue ribbon in the pine category.  The Fraser Fir, entered in the fir category, also received a blue ribbon.  Further, the White Pine was judged to be Grand Champion and the Fraser Fir was named reserve champion.
Hensler Nursery entered the annual Indiana State Fair this year with two trees, a Fraser Fir and a White Pine.  The 8′ White Pine, selected by Hensler’s forester, John Scheetz,  was awarded a blue ribbon (1st place) in the pine category and awarded Grand Champion.  The Fraser Fir received third place.
