Today we are collecting 1-year old Red Oak seedlings. Each seedling will be inspected, counted in bundles of 10 seedlings and wrapped for customers by adding sphagnum moss and a bit of water.
The very first quart of maple syrup produced by tapping our maple trees this season. So exciting!
Forrester Scot Heeren is starting another project today. He is using the saw to create custom lumber boards for a customer.
The next step in the process of creating delicious maple syrup is heating up the maple sugar water to boil down to syrup. It’s an awesome sight!
Joe Hensler empties the galvanized pail full of maple sugar water (sap) for the next step in the maple syrup process.
These maple trees have 17 galvanized pails attached, just waiting for the drops of maple sugar sap to fill them.
The nursery tractor will soon be switched from the snow scraping blade to the seedling under cutter. Spring can’t come soon enough!
