A How-to Guide

Selecting your Christmas tree

Here’s some helpful information about choosing and cutting your own Christmas tree on the farm.

We Look Forward to Seeing All of Our Holiday Guests on the Farm!

You have three options for choosing your Christmas tree at Hensler Nursery and we’ll help you plan your day. You can select a freshly-cut tree from our pre-cut lot. You can ride the tram or walk the trail to the on-site Christmas tree field. And new this year, you can drive to the Off-Site Reserve field located 4 minutes from the main farm east of Hensler Nursery on County Road 600. On our main property, we have a good selection of trees ready to be cut in our fields, but we are also in the years-long process of growing new trees from seedling — it takes 7-10 years! To offer more options to cut your own  beautiful tree, new this year is access to our Off-Site Reserve Field with more than 15,000 trees.

Option 1

Select a tree from our pre-cut lot in the main yard.

We have an abundance of freshly-cut trees in our pre-cut lot. Each tree is tagged with visible pricing. Our trees are freshly cut that week and ready for you to take home. We recommend cutting an additional ¼ inch off the bottom – ask us, we can help!

1. Walk
Walk to the pre-cut tree section in our main lot.

2. Select a Tree
Choose a White Pine, Scotch Pine or Fraser Fir Christmas tree.

3. Saw the trunk
Ask Hensler Nursery staff to cut a ¼ inch off the bottom. A fresh cut helps with water retention.

4. Shake & Bail
Have Hensler Nursery staff shake and bail your tree.

5. Pay for your tree
Find an employee with a mobile pay device to pay for your tree or pay in the red barn.

Option 2

Walk the trail to the on-site Christmas tree lot or take a tram.

We have opened up a back field on our property with Fraser Fir trees and a limited amount of Concolor Fir. It is a leisurely six minute walk from the parking area to the tree field taking this walking path. We will have signs to help you find your way. If you prefer to take the tram, that option is available. Along the driveway into the nursery, there is a field with limited stock of White Pine.

Note: No other vehicles are allowed down the walking trail.

Option 3

Drive to our off-site remote field.

This year we’ve opened up a reserve field of Fraser Fir Christmas trees just a short drive from Hensler Nursery. It’s a 4-minute drive east of Hensler Nursery on County Road 600 north. Use our QR code, map and roadside banners for help with directions. You’ll find 7-10 foot fraser fit trees in this field.

You can head there after you have visited the main nursery property to see Santa and take photos, grab food, browse through the Christmas Shop, and snap up holiday greenery like wreaths and garland. Or you can head to the Off-Site Remote field directly and then head to Hensler Nursery to visti Santa, eat, and shop.
