We spotted this rainbow right before a summer storm approached our Scotch pine field.
We’ve been collecting seeds and replanting them, creating little seedlings that are just breaking through! These seedlings will grow to be great Northern White Cedar (Arborvitae), a great tree to plant next to a fence for privacy and as a windbreak.
Michiana Master Gardeners, Lora Callahan, picked up her trees for their annual sale at the Elkhart County Fairgrounds in Goshen. These were 50 beautiful 4-year old white pine trees. Thanks for your order, Lora!
Forester Scott Heeren pulling our finest two-year old scotch pine on this spring day.
Warm, just bottled maple syrup. Lovely golden color, too!
Today we are collecting 1-year old Red Oak seedlings. Each seedling will be inspected, counted in bundles of 10 seedlings and wrapped for customers by adding sphagnum moss and a bit of water.
The very first quart of maple syrup produced by tapping our maple trees this season. So exciting!
Forrester Scot Heeren is starting another project today. He is using the saw to create custom lumber boards for a customer.
The next step in the process of creating delicious maple syrup is heating up the maple sugar water to boil down to syrup. It’s an awesome sight!
Our Christmas season may end earlier than December 17 and will depend on tree inventory.
