Deer Family Enjoying the Snow

Today we are out in the fields fertilizing Fraser fir. This gives the tree the nutrients it needs to successfully grow. Fertilizing also aids in tree health and improves color by fostering that dark green shade we see in our beloved Christmas tree.
Now that the holidays are behind us, we are working on an ornament prototype for our next season like this one.
Made from a slice of Scotch pine trunk, this medallion has been sanded and wood burned with our Hensler Nursery name and pine cone logo. Next we will drill a small hole to attach a ribbon for hanging. And, of course, we have to test durability and presentation, so up next we are testing on Fraser fir, White pine, and other hardwoods like Walnut, Cherry and Oak. Oh, and finding ways to eliminate the cracking when the wood dries.
These white pine transplants are comfortably hibernating on this cold, Northern Indiana day.
From our family to yours, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Our dreams for a white Christmas may come true after all! And this song by Kelly Clarkson will help us get in the mood.
For one family, bringing their three small children to pick out a Christmas tree is a FUN event. But capturing their day with photos at Hensler Nursery is a memory they will always have. Thanks for sharing this wonderful photo essay with us!
